What we collect, and why

  • The contact form. Your name, email address and your message, so that we can answer you. It reaches us as an email and is not stored on this website.
  • Comments on our articles. Your name, email address and comment. They are sent privately to us by email and are not published on the site or stored on it.
  • How the site is used. Only if you accept cookies: the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and an approximate location from your IP address, through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity records anonymised sessions (clicks and scrolling) and masks what you type into forms.
  • Technical records. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to run the site securely.

Cookies

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) load only after you choose “Accept all” on the cookie banner. If you choose essential only, they never load. Your choice is remembered in your browser; clear this site's data to choose again.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information or share it for anybody else's marketing. We use these service providers, each of which processes it only to provide its service to us:

  • Resend: delivers the contact-form and comment emails to us.
  • Vercel: hosts this website.
  • Google: Google Analytics, only with your consent.
  • Microsoft: Microsoft Clarity, only with your consent.

Information sent outside South Africa

Some of these providers process information on servers outside South Africa. We use providers that are bound by recognised data-protection laws and agreements, so that your information receives protection comparable to POPIA.

How long we keep it

We keep what you send us through this website only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, or for as long as the law requires us to keep it, and then delete it.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it, and object to its use or withdraw your consent.
